Professor Vittorio Bovolin Dear Prof. Bovolin:
I am writing to invite you to spend the period from July the 1st 2014 to August the 31st 2104 visiting the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at San Diego State University (SDSU) as Visiting Professor. The purpose of this visit is to carry on an independent research in collaboration with Prof. Victor Miguel Ponce. During this visit, SDSU will not provide any salary or income for you; rather, it is expected that the University of Salemo (Italy) will cover your salary and expenses during this stay. In order to be admitted to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program, you must have a machine readable passport. Additionally, new passports issued on or after October 26,2005 must contain a digital photograph. Beginning October 26th 2006, new passports must be e-passports containing a computer chip that can store biographic and biometric information. Please ensure that your passport is compliant before entering the United States. Upon arrival at the airport or border in the United States, you should present this letter to the immigration inspector. Please be sure that your arrival/departure record (Form I-94) is marked WB, as this notation is needed in order for you to obtain your SDSU appointment. I also understand that your wife (Laura Giamattei), your son (Marco Alberto Bovolin) and your daughter (Lea Vittoria Bovolin) will be travelling with you.
