HOMEWORK No. 6:  RESERVOIR SEDIMENTATION


  1. Use ONLINE_RESERVOIR_LIFE to calculate the number of years it would take to fill up 80% of the reservoir volume, assuming: (a) fine-grained sediment, (b) medium-grained sediment, and (c) coarse-grained sediment.

    Use the following hydraulic data for the watershed, stream, and reservoir:

    • Reservoir capacity V = 10 hm3

    • Catchment area A = 280 km2

    • Mean annual runoff Q = 300 mm

    • Sediment yield S = 750 M.Tons/km2

    • Specific weight of sediments W = 12,000 N/m3

    Use the default temporal resolution (n = 10).
